Running Beer has been Greenlight

Running Beer has been Greenlight to enter Steam Store. Some rather weird news for a game with its development discontinued 5 months ago and the team scattered around the country, isn't it?

Anyways, thank you everyone! We'll try to figure out what to do now and keep you informed via this blog, Twitter and Facebook.

Game (development course is) Over!

Today, it is the last day of the Game Development course, meaning that today the Kaljameri team dissolves, or so to say, enters a winter sleep of undefined length.

There are no longer schedule or plans of further development of Running Beer. We sincerely apologise the disappointment this might cause to those who have been waiting for our next release.

The past few months have been really interesting time, during which we all have learned and experienced a lot. We want to thank all of our fans, supporters and everyone involved. Your comments, let's play videos, and everything else our game inspired you to do, have been super important for us. Running Beer was truly a game made completely for its fans.

Game development lecture series by Kaljameri Games

To celebrate the National Games Day, Kaljameri Games arranges a 4-day lesson series with the title "From Concept to Controls - 3d character creation" during the Games Day theme week from 16th to 21st of November. The lectures are held at Jamk Lutakko Campus auditorium at 3 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The series starts with Miia telling about her character design workflow and showing how a turnaround picture used in 3d modeling is drawn. Next, Jarno uses that turnaround to model and texture the character. He also shows how the normal maps are sculpted and baked. On Thursday, Markus tells about character animation and shows how the rigging and animations are done. Finally, Antti shows how the character's controls and animations are programmed in game engine.

The event is free of charge and open to everyone interested in seeing how games are made. We believe the hands-on demonstration style of the lectures will have something to give to everybody, whether already studying or working in the industry, or completely layperson just interested in having a sneak peek behind the scenes of game development.

Here are the Facebook events for the lessons:

From Concept to Controls - 3d game character creation lesson series, part 1/4: Character design and concept
From Concept to Controls - 3d game character creation lesson series, part 2/4: 3d modeling and texturing
From Concept to Controls - 3d game character creation lesson series, part 3/4: Rigging and animation
From Concept to Controls - 3d game character creation lesson series, part 4/4: Programming the controls and animations

Please note, that the lectures will be held in Finnish language!

Kaljameri Games participates in the National Games Day in Finland

Kaljameri Games participates in making of the National Games Day in November. The whole week before the actual Games day, 21st of November, is a gaming theme week in Finland, so we will be arranging something special during the weekdays, too.

All the Games Day events in Jyväskylä will be posted onto the official Games Day website and also announced by Peliosuuskunta Expa, so stay tuned for more info!

The National Games Day (21.11.2015) consists of a group of events that discuss the merits, meanings and influences games can have on players. This day also promotes fact-based public debate about digital games, and encourages children and adults to play together. Activities during the week leading up to the NGD in November are organized by public libraries, schools, youth centres, museums and other organisations all around the country.

The NGD is coordinated by the National Audiovisual Institute and organized by the Finnish Game Educators’ Network, which includes professionals from governmental agencies, media companies, municipalities and NGOs.
